In the northwestern part of the province of Preveza is the picturesque Parga, the so-called “island” of Epirus. Obviously influenced by Ionian architecture, it is built amphitheatrically on the slope of a mountain and is the busiest tourist resort in the area. The beautiful beaches with the clear blue waters, the imposing Venetian castle with the panoramic view of the city, the island of Panagia with its small church, the cobbled alleys and the colorful houses are just some of its treasures.

Valtos or Chrysogiali beach is the largest beach of Parga with an area that reaches 3 km. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area as the greenery and the olive grove reach almost to the edge of the beach. It extends from the castle of Parga to the foot of the monastery of Vlacherna. The waters are deep and clear and the sandy beach is organized and ideal for those who want a comfortable swim. It is only 5 minutes drive from the city of Parga while for those who prefer walking, the stone steps of the castle along the sea offer an idyllic route. There is also the possibility of transport by kayaks, which run daily services to Parga and the surrounding beaches.
